Small Groups
![]() |
We consider Small Groups to be a major part of spiritual growth at St Mary’s Church, Hitcham. We currently have nine including teenage groups. |
In Small Groups we can get to know each other better and more intimately and have the courage to be real with each other while being secure in the love of God and the love and acceptance of our Christian brothers and sisters. We explore what it means to be followers of Jesus in the 21st century.
Joining a Small Group has made it much easier for people who are new to our church to make close friendships and feel part of the family. Much of the church’s pastoral care takes place in Small Groups either by the leader or other group members. Issues needing a more professional approach have been passed on to the vicar who either deals with the issue or refers the individual to a professional counsellor.
The Small Group Coordinator’s dream is to see many more Small Groups around the community and for new leaders to be developed and encouraged, so it may be easier to invite friends and neighbours.
